Agency: Youth and Community Development

The Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) supports both youth and adult programs through contracts with community-based organizations throughout the city. In total, DYCD contracts with about 3,000 providers to provide after-school programming, workforce development for youth and adults, community programs that focus on substance abuse and other prevalent issues, summer programs, and programs for runaway and homeless youth. These programs include the Beacon Community Centers, Out-of School and In-School Youth Programs, Adult Literacy, and Summer Youth Employment Programs. All of these programs work to strengthen the communities within the City. Jeanne B. Mullgrav is the Commissioner of DYCD; for more information, go to www.nyc.gov/dycd.
