This program falls under the Division of Maintenance and Operations, and funds services with contractors for maintenance, security and repair at zoos and aquariums.

  1. The City owns and operates 4 zoos and 1 aquarium: The Central Park Wildlife Center & Tisch Children's Zoo (Manhattan), The Bronx Zoo, The Propect Park Wildlife Center (Brooklyn), The Queens Wildlife Center and The New York Aquarium (Brooklyn).
  2. The facilities are managed and administered by the Wildlife Conservation Society, which the City contracts with for services.
  3. Approximately 2 million people visit the Bronx Zoo and New York Aquarium annually.
