What your money funds:

This Bureau is responsible for investigating major crimes, including homicides, robberies and sex crimes. Additionally, officers work to locate missing persons and missing property. The Bureau provides investigative personnel for the District Attorney and the Department of Investigation.

  1. Major Crime Rates: According to the NYPD, in 2008 there were a recorded 523 murders and 1,296 rape crimes. As compared to ten years ago, murder and rape rates are down 24% and 32%, respectively.
