What your money funds:
This bureau funds engineering support services for the entire Department's operating programs. This includes preparing designs for upgrading and maintaining the infrastructures at DSNY's facilities, overseeing outside consultant's designs of new garages, administering construction contract procurement and implementing design and construction contracts.
- The capital programs relate to the design and building of garages, section stations, repair shops, and personnel facilities.
- Over the next ten years, the Department plans to replace and build new garages and facilities, and discontinue its practice renting space from outside vendors.
- The new garages built in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens between 2007 and 2008 all received the New York City Art Commission's Award for Design Excellence.
