What your money funds:

Funding for benefits associated with Public Assistance including camp fees, carfare for PA clients to maintain PA-related appointments, burials and other income support.

  1. HRA/DSS partners with Verizon to provide their Life Line program, which is a reduced telephone rate for NYC residents on Public Assistance.
  2. HRA/DSS will provide financial assistance to individuals in need of assistance to meet funeral expenses. These funds are available when an indigent resident of New York City dies who may have been in receipt of SSI, CA, or no public benefits at all, without leaving funds to cover their burial expenses and there are no relatives or friends willing or able to pay the funeral expenses.
  3. The Medical Assistance Program (MAP) reimburses medical institutions for transportation costs incurred by eligible patients who come in for services.
