What your money funds:

This program is responsible for working with people in the City who are receiving public assistance funding and experiencing substance abuse problems. The program funds substance abuse assessment, clinical case management, case management and employment assistance.

  1. As of March 22, 2009, 4,430 Cash Assistance (Public Assistance) clients were involved in some type of substance abuse treatment through HRA. 272 TANF recipients were receiving substance abuse treatment.
  2. The Wellness, Comprehensive Assessment Rehabilitation and Employment (WeCARE): addresses the needs of cash assistance clients with medical and/or mental health barriers to employment by providing customized assistance and services to help clients achieve their highest levels of self-sufficiency over time.
  3. As of March 22, 2009, three TANF (federal assistance for singles) clients were involved in the WeCARE program for substance abuse issues.
  4. As of March 22, 2009, twenty-nine Cash Assistance (Public Assistance) clients were involved in the WeCARE program for substance abuse issues.
  5. The Substance Abuse Tracking and Reporting System (STAR): computer program designed to facilitate the exchange of information between HRA/DSS and the drug and alcohol treatment providers who enroll HRA/DSS clients. HRA/DSS can monitor the progress of clients and track their compliance with rehabilitation plans.
