What your money funds:

The Out-of-School Time program is an after-school program that offers academic support, sports and recreational activities, and cultural experiences to youth in New York City from elementary school through high school.

  1. There are 644 different programs offered through the OST program.
  2. DYCD targets 77 priority zip codes in selecting OST sites, using a formula that takes the following statistics into account: youth population ages 6-15 years; youth poverty rate at 100% of poverty line; rate of youth ages 16-19 years who are not in school, not high school graduates, and not in the workforce; number of English Language Learners students in public schools; number of single parent families with related children under 18 years of age; and number of children eligible for New York State subsidized childcare.
  3. In FY08, 87,256 youth were enrolled in an OST program location.
