What your money funds:

The Out-of-School Youth Programs focus on vocational training and education for youth ages 16-21 who are no longer in school and need basic skills training.

  1. They are funded by Title I of the Federal Workforce Investment Act.
  2. Programs are divided into two age groups: ages 19-21 and ages 16-18.
  3. Youth who meet the age and income requirements and who have dropped out of or graduated from high school are eligible for enrollment in the program.
  4. Participants receive follow up for the first year out of the program. According to DYCD, in the first four months following the end of the program, approximately 45% of youth ages 19-21 are placed with a job or attain higher education.
  5. DYCD contracts with youth services providers for these programs.
