What your money funds:

The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) provides summer employment and educational experiences for youth between the ages of 14-21. Participants work in a variety of entry-level jobs at government agencies, hospitals, summer camps, nonprofits, small businesses, law firms, museums, sports enterprises, and retail organizations.

  1. In FY08, 41,804 individuals participated in SYEP. They were paid for up to 25 hours a week at $7.15 an hour.
  2. According to DYCD, about 55% participants are female and 45% male.
  3. 70% of participants are African American and Hispanic.
