What your money funds:
This program offers city funding for the necessary personal services expenses related to collective bargaining. Collective bargaining is the process by which workers organize together to meet, discuss and compromise upon the work environment with their employers or a labor agreement. It is often the practice in which union and company representatives meet to negotiate a new labor contract. Teachers belong to a union, the United Federation of Teachers, which bargains with the DOE about their contract. This also comes into play with salary and benefit bargaining for other school employees, as well as budgetary negotiations with the City, State and Federal governments. Collective bargaining agreements are also completed for City contracts with vendors, such as bus companies and food service providers.
