What your money funds:

This program covers the operation cost for the Pre-Kindergarten and Early Intervention Program for Special Education students. The New York City Department of Education implements pre-kindergarten programs for students turning 4 years of age by December 31 of the academic year. All programs are free of charge for the student.

As such, the New York City Department of Education is required to collaborate with eligible early childhood providers and submit applications to the State Education Department. Additionally, the DOE administers pre-kindgarten classes in its own facilities.
  2. Universal Pre-kindergarten: For children in public school and non-public school settings, such as Head Start, child care centers, preschool special education and nursery schools.
  3. Universal Plus Pre-kindergarten: Integrated setting in which children with mild to moderate disabilities learn with their typically developing peers.
