What your money funds:
This program funds World Trade Center related functions, including the World Trade Center Health Registry, which was established with the goal of tracking all individuals highly exposed to the terrorist attack.
- World Trade Center Health Registry: In response to the attacks on the Twin Towers, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry and the New York City Health Department created this registry with the goal of monitoring the health of people directly exposed to the WTC disaster. There are approximately 70,000 people in this registry. The registry conducted a survey in 2004, which monitors many of the health effects of the attack. This survey is online on the DOHMH website.
- World Trade Center (WTC) Medical Working Group: This group was appointed by Mayor Bloomberg in June 2007, and many of its members are from DOHMH. It reviews clinical and research findings on the potential health effects of WTC exposure in consultation with outside experts and others when appropriate.
