What your money funds:

This program is responsible for providing childcare and household management services to families who need help providing a safe and nurturing environment for their children. The program provides education and case management to pregnant and parenting teens and works with foster care agencies to train families

  1. The Take Good Care of Your Baby public service is produced by ACS in collaboration with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, to educate all New York City parents about how to prevent injuries, accidents and deaths among babies and young children.
  2. The Teenage Services Act (TASA) mandates that all of the contracted programs only work with pregnant or parenting adolescents who receive Public Assistance or Medicaid. TASA's case managers help mothers and fathers under age 20 to manage their new concerns and learn how to provide for themselves and their children. In FY08, ACS opened 346 TASA cases. From October 2007 through October 2008, the Department had 1,046 active cases. Each caseworker had an average 32.4 cases each.
  3. In terms of other homemaking services providing to non-TASA eligible clients, ACS opened 88 new cases in FY08. From October 2007 through October 2008, ACS had 1,181 active cases that fell under this category.
